There are some things in this world that aren't meant to be explained. I guess last night was one of them.
I was expecting some sort of explanation from James, but he was just looking for one the same as I. I was waiting to wake up and understand what happened. Stupid I know, but it helped me to go back to sleep last night. Just a lie I needed to tell myself I suppose.
James sat with me last night. He makes me feel comfortable. I don't know why. I can't like him though. My dad says not to bother people. So I don't. I let other people do everything. No one cares about me, and it should be that way.
I go back to my room to get dressed for the day. "Good morning Ellie!" Says Grace cheerfully. "Morning." I respond. "Wanna go to breakfast together?" "I was planning on it." I say back nonchalantly while brushing though my hair. "Oh! Okay!" Geez. Why is everyone so loud in the mornings.
My hair is the worst. Everyone loves it, but I don't. It's long, and red, and super frizzy. It's a little bit lower than my waist. It's so long. I just wanna chop it all off. My dad would kill me though. It's not pretty to have short hair of course. It's kind of wavy, but mostly just frizz. So, I have to straighten it. Pretty girls have straight, glossy hair, curled to perfection. Like my mom of course. I swear my hair must be so heat damaged.
Grace and I walk down to the cafeteria to get breakfast. Connor with his awkwardly cute messy hair as always. Oh my gosh gross did I say cute? I meant gross. Right? I-yeah. Connor was standing by Devon and Evan. Connor turned around and smiled at us. Grace turned to me. "He totally just smiled at you!" She whisper screamed. I rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah ok." "But-!" "No." She pouted and stuck her tongue out at me. I did the same mockingly back.
We walked over to the wonderful array of breakfast foods. Meaning, bagels, a bowl of scrambled eggs, and like five apples. There probably was more but Evan was here. Grace grabbed a plate and handed one to me. I gently pushed it away and politely declined. "Aren't you going to eat?" She asked me. "I had a big dinner last night." I lied. "You didn't eat dinner." "I ate after you went to sleep." I lied again. "You went to sleep before I did." Dang it. "James!" She yelled out. James walked over to us. "What?" He said mocking Grace. "Ellie isn't eating." Grace whined. How do I lie now. Thanks Grace. James looked over to me more serious this time. "Ellie you need to eat. You've barely eaten anything since you got here." "But-." I protested. "No buts. You have a big day ahead you! I don't want you fainting in the middle of it all." Ugh. I reach for an apple and hold it out for James to see. "Apple." "You need more than one apple, Ellie." Protested James. "Fine." I said picking up another apple. "Two apples." He gave me the look. That teacher look. You know what I'm talking about. "Fine." I said caving in and grabbing the plate from Grace. Grace celebrates and high fives James. I roll my eyes and put some eggs on my plate.
I sit down at a table across from Grace. Connor walks over and sits next me. Grace looks at me and Connor and giggles. "Sorry. She's a little crazy." I tell him laughing. "It's fine. So are you going to eat anything or are you going to just continue to push it around on your plate until it decomposes?" I look down at my fork which happens to be, just as he says, pushing everything around in an awkward circular motion. I spear a clump of scrambled egg and shove it into my mouth. Then I regret it immediately. "Oh gross. I forgot how gross eggs are. Ew." Grace and Connor laugh at me. Rude.
We talked for a while, and then walked towards outside. Connor left us to go with Devon and Evan. Grace turned to look at me. "He totally is into you! You would be the cutest couple!" I shook my head. "No." "Ugh. Later though." I nod and agree. At least she stopped for now.Author's Note: Hi. Bye.
